Duterte on kill threat: God will decide

Duterte on kill threat
MANILA - With drug lords offering "billions" for his head, President Rodrigo Duterte said he was leaving his fate to God.

Duterte unveiled on national television late Thursday an elaborate matrix of illegal drug operations in the country that allegedly included police generals and crime lords serving time in prison.

"I'm confident that God will decide everything. If God does not want me to die, I will not die. But if God wants me out of the scene, I will be gone. So, ba-bye na lang," Duterte said.

Duterte acknowledged that crime lords wanted him dead, even "offering billions."

"You don’t have to worry, you have your Vice President. Kaya nga tayo may Vice President e. E, ‘di there is always the rule of succession," he said.

Philippine National Police Chief Director General Ronald "Bato" dela Rosa, who is leading the government's anti-drug drive, earlier said a P50-million bounty was put up for himself and the president.

Duterte said Thursday he trusted the military and the police enough to secure him.

"The Armed Forces will not take it sitting down. The Philippine National Police, even if I'm gone, they will not allow these animals to have their day," he said.

"And Leni Robredo, if she becomes the President will also be harsh kasi you are talking about the welfare of the country," he added.

Last week, Duterte named five police generals as alleged coddlers of drug lords as he kicked his relentless anti-narcotics campaign into high gear.
